Bara


The slave moves to lay facedown upon the floor, forehead lightly touching the floor, legs straight with ankles crossed and wrists crossed at the small of the back

The slave moves to her belly, hands palms down near the sides of her head, forehead to the ground and waits for further orders

Blanket

This, while not technically a command, is still an action the slave should remember. If something is thrown over her head she must remain silent and motionless until freed from it.
I then threw the second blanket, the top blanket over her, covering her completely. When a blanket, or cloak, or covering of any sort, is thrown over a slave like this she may not speak or rise. She must remain as she is, silent, until the master , or some free man, lifts the covering away."

Not a true position technically. Bound by Master's Will implies that the girl will stay in any position she is told to stay in until released as if she was truly bound.  This is in accordance to the position Blanket.
"She wore the `bonds of the master's will.' Grunt had put her in them. She could not rise to her feet. Yet there was not a rope or strap on her body. She was `bound by the master's will.' She could not move from this position unless, at the word of a free person, she was freed from it. To break the position otherwise is to be instantly slain."

Bracelets

This position is used to put on slave bracelets for chaining the slave.  She places her hands behind her back, her shoulders pushed back, her breasts thrust outward, and her hands clasped tightly behind her back and ready for bracelets to be placed on her.
In an alternative to this position, the slave stands gracefully before her Master, with her hips slightly turned to one side, her back and shoulders erect, her wrists crossed behind her back and her head turned to the left, in anticipation of having slave bracelets attached to her wrists.
He had removed a pair of light bracelets, joined by about five inches of light chain, from his pouch. "Slave bracelets," he said. "Turn around, facing the door, your hands behind your back."

Standard Binding

When ordered into standard binding position the girl lays on the ground, wrists crossed behind the back and ankles crossed.                (this is most likely another name for bara)

"Standard binding position," he said. I was prone. When a girl is prone, the standard binding position is to cross the wrists behind the back and to cross the ankles. I took this position instantaneously.

Gorean Bow

Kneel in nadu position and bend your body backwards, your head to the floor, placing your hands by your head, and pull up into a back bend.
Over her iron collar she wore a heavy leather Kur collar, high, heavily sewn, with its large ring. He thrust her two wrists before her body, into the ring he had cut from the Kur. He then tied them inside, and to, the ring. He then, from his belt, tool a long length of binding fiber and, doubling it, looped it, securing it, as its center to the ring, leaving two long ends. He then threw her, on her back, over the body, head down, of the fallen Kur. He took the two loose ends of the binding fiber and, taking them under the body of the fallen Kur, dragged her wrists, elbows bent, over and above her head; he then, bending her knees, tied one of the loose ends about her left ankle, and the other about her right. This was the Gorean Love Bow.

This position may be used in inventive serves, as an alternative to table, as part of the "Belt Dance".  The position is painful and not maintained for longer than a few minutes, her head then touches the fur, her body a cruel, helpless bow.

Crawl

The slave gets down on all fours, palms to elbows flat against the floor, bottom in the air, forehead close but not quite touching the ground and crawls to within inches of the Master's feet.

I pointed to the stones at my feet. "Crawl," I said , in Gorean. The girl slipped to her belly, and as a slave girl, crawled to my feet. She put her lips to my foot. I felt her hair over it.

Capture

The slave lays down upon her back, bending her knees to place her feet flat against the ground, hands at her side and remains motionless

"On your back," he said, "knees raised, heels on the floor." I then lay before him, in a standard, supine capture position.

Kneeling to the Coffle

Kneels, normally thighs parted, up upon the heels and lifts either the left or right wrist outwards, depending on the type of coffle, so that the wrist can be attached to a wrist ring within the coffle chain.

"Kneel to be coffled," said one of the men. The girls knelt, closely, one behind the other, there were six wrist rings on the chain he carried. He placed the girl who had been whipped by Lady Sabina first in the coffle line. "Left wrist coffle," he said. They lifted their left wrists, frightened. Interestingly, the man snapping the wrist rings on the girls’ left wrists did not put the first girl in the first ring, but the second. When the four maids were coffled there was, thus, an empty wrist ring both at the head and rear of the line. "Stand, Slaves," said the man. "Lower chain." The girls stood. Then, ordered, the lowered their wrists. They were then in line, standing, coffled.

Stands, feet about shoulders width apart, fingers laced behind the neck with elbows back, head up and eyes lowered.

The auctioneer did not strike her with his whip. He merely took her arms and lifted them, so that the position chain, attached to each side of the sales collar lay across her her upper arms. Then he had her clasp her hands behind the back of her neck, so that the chain, on each side of the collar, was in the crook of her arms, and she was exposed in such a way that she could be properly exhibited.

Hair


The girl stands and bows at the waist, letting her hair fall forward for display, to be seized or for any other purpose the Master might require.  Also used as a disciplinary measure making the slave helpless.
I held my left hand open, at my waist. She stiffened, and looked at me, angrily. I opened and closed my left hand once. I saw her training in Gorean customs had been thorough. But she never thought that such a gesture would be used to her. She came beside me, and a bit behind me, and, crouching, put her head down, deeply. I fastened my hand in her hair. She winced. Women are helpless in this position.

Heel

The slave goes to the Master's left if He is right handed, right if left handed and about one and a half paces behind Him. She follows His movements from that point.

The Forkbeard turned about and, one arm about Pudding, the other about Gunnhild, started from the dock. Hilda followed him, to his left. "She heels nicely," said Ottar. The men and bond-maids laughed. The Forkbeard stopped. Hilda's face burned red with fury, but she kept her head high. Pet sleen are taught to heel; so, too, sometimes, are bond-maids; I was familiar with this sort of thing, of course; in the south it was quite common for slave girls; in various fashions in various cities, to heel their masters. Hilda, of course, was a free woman. For her to heel was an incredible humiliation. The Forkbeard started off again, and then again stopped. Again, Hilda followed him as before. "She is heeling!" laughed Ottar.

These things vary, I learned from city to city, and depend, also, on such matters as context and conditions. In a market, in the crowding and jostling for instance, a girl may follow so closely she pressed against the back of his left shoulder. Girls seldom follow behind and on the right. If she is thusly placed it is commonly a sign she is in disfavor. If more than one girl is involved, she who follows most closely on the left is generally taken to be in highest favor; girls compete for this position. In an open area, such a the fields in which we trekked, the girl is placed some five or ten feet behind, and on the left. If he must move suddenly she will not, thusly, constitute an impediment to his action.

This is a position used most often with display slaves. The slave holds her head very high, exposing her neck.

"Lift your head, " he said. "Higher. Higher!" She looked up at him, her head far back, the leash on her throat.... "You need not now keep your head in high-harness position,", he said to the girl. She moved her head.

Kneeling to the Whip

 
The slave kneels with her knees pressed tight together as would a slave assuming Tower.  Her arms are bent at the elbow, her wrists crossed, and held tight to her breasts, covering them.  She then bends forward, turning her head to the left and touching her cheek to the floor.  Her back thus curved and exposed she awaits the whip.
"I crossed my wrists beneath me and touched my head to the floor, exposing the bow of my back.  It is the submissive posture of a slave girl who is to be punished.  It is called Kneeling to the Whip.  I shook, visibly, at his feet.  I whimpered, I waited for him to call a guard, to bring the lash."

Nadu

Kneel with thighs spread wide, back held straight or arched slightly, breast thrust forward, head held high with eyes lowered,  sitting back on heels, hands resting palms up or palms down on thighs.   Palms up was considered a plea for rape in some circumstances.  Nadu is the basic position for the Pleasure Slave...  Pleasure Slave position.
"Nadu!" he snapped. She swiftly turned, facing him, and dropped to her knees. She knelt back on her heels, her back straight, her hands on her thighs, her head up, her knees wide. It was the position of the pleasure slave.

Training

"You will be trained as a slave girl, you will be taught to kneel, to stand, to walk, to dance, to sing, to serve the thousand pleasures of men.  And when your training is complete, you will be placed on a block and sold"

New slaves are often treated with great harshness.  It helps them learn quickly that they are slaves. Later, when the girl is well trained and her services become perfections she may be treated more leniently, even lovingly, like a dog. To be sure, if she should become in the least bit lax, the original strictures, or worse, will be instantly reimposed, or instituted.

This basically sums it all up, training entails everything from positions to serves, pleasures and dance, even having the knowledge and ability to converse and entertain.  The training of a slave is done in accordance with the whip.  For without discipline and the proof that one is owned and can be molded to their owners liking, a slave will never thrive and learn her own submission.  Your training is what you make of it, you are your own asset, accept it, embrace it, beg for and learn from each lesson.  For they are what build your confidence, and make you unique.

The training of the slave girls progressed. It had begun, following the period entirely consumed with exercises, with such small things as instruction on how to stand, to walk, to kneel, to recline, to eat, to drink. Grace and beauty, following Sura, and I would scarcely dare dispute such an authority, is mostly a matter of expression, both that of the face and body. I could, week to week, see the change in the girls, even Elizabeth. Some of the things they were taught seemed to me very silly, but I, at the same time, found it difficult to object.

Training for a slave never ends, and should never end.  A slave should always try harder to improve herself in everyway, making herself/himself, that much more valuable and desirable.
"Indeed, I suspected that there would always be more to learn about service and love, that such things were fathomless and limitless, and, thus, in a sense, the notion of being "fully trained," or knowing all there was to know, was in actuality less of a practical goal than a lovely ideal, one which might perhaps be approached ever more closely, but would never be, and perhaps should never be, fully attained. Let the girl revel in her growth, and not fear that one day there will be no more to learn, nowhere else to go. There are no summits on the heights of love."

The main thing to remember as a slave is:  
You are an extension of your Owner.  You represent your Owner and their abilities, as well as everything they possess.  If you bring shame to yourself, you dishonor your Owner.  If you dishonor your Owner, you will be killed.  Rarely are slaves freed, if ever.  Accept your position, cherish it, own it, live it, desire it, in time you will find, it might have been the best decision you have ever made.
"She laughed. It was true. Gorean men, on the whole, do not free slaves. The freeing of a girl is almost unheard of. This makes sense. They are not free women. They are belongings, valuables, slaves, treasures. Who discards precious possessions, who surrenders treasures? If the slave girl were worth less perhaps she would be freed more. In a slaver house, training is done by use of what is called a stimulation cage, someone ornate, but always barred, roomy except for low ceiling, about 5 feet high.  a girl housed in such a cage is not permitted to look into the eyes of any male, this it to make the girl extremely conscious of males. a girl is taught living senses and to have a living body.. to be much more passionate and alive.. her skin an extensive organ, every bit alive and wanting, feeling, needing.

Sometimes they are read aloud in training sessions by a scribe, a whip master in attendance. Most girls are eager to acquire such knowledge. Some free women claim that this book, which is supposedly written by Dina, "a slave," which continues to appear in various editions and revision, because of its intelligence and sensitivity, is actually, and must be, written by a free woman. I suspect, on the other hand, that it is truly by a slave, as is claimed on the title page. There are reasons for this. First, "Dina" is a common slave name, often given to girls with the "Dina" brand, which is a small roselike brand. Second, the nature of the songs themselves. No free woman could have sung the chains and love and the lash, and the glory of masters as she.  Those are songs which, in my opinion, could be written only by a woman who knew what it was to be at a man’s slave ring. As to the matter of the poetess’ intelligence and sensitivity, I surely grant them to the free woman, but maintain that such are entirely possible in a slave, and even more to be expected in her then in then. I suspect their position may even be inconsistent. When a woman is enslaved, for example, surely they do not suppose that her intelligence and sensitivity disappear. Surely they would not expect theirs to do so, if they had them. No, she still has them. Also it has been my personal experience, for what it is worth, that slaves are almost always more intelligent and sensitive than free women, who often, at least until taken in hand, tend to be ignorant, smug, vain and stupid. Also, it might be noted that many woman are enslaved not simply because if it convenient to do so, the ropes are handy, so to speak, or because they are beautiful of face and figure, but actually because of their intelligence and sensitivity, qualities which appeal to many Gorean men. Indeed, such qualities commonly raise a girl’s price. Also, as I have suggested, the intelligence and sensitivity of many women actually tends to blossom in bondage, finding within it the apt environment for its expression, for its flowering. This may have to do with such matters as the release of inhibitions, happiness, fulfillment, and such. I do not know."

"We do not choose our Masters nor is it up to us, whether or not we will please them, or to what degree. We must strive be perfection all ways, for anyone. that is part of what is to be a slave. In reconciling myself to bondage I had, also, to reconcile myself to this condition, it is a part of bondage. It is something which the slave must accept. Without it there can be no true slavery. There is no reason why a Master has to discipline or punish a slave, other then the fact that it pleases him.  However, most slaves are disciplined and punished because they are insolent, mouthy, and a variety of other reasons.  Some actions are harsher then others, some are desired, and some are even for the simple fact of training.  Every slave on Gor has at one time felt the sting of the whip, if they haven't, it is only a matter of time before they do.  Some forms of disciplines and punishments are:  Denial of clothing and name, deprivation of sex, binding, whipping, cuffed, beaten, hood and gag, slave box, slave goad, whipping post, shaving of head, she quadruped, dung sack, notching of ears and lastly.... death.  Just to name a few, some Masters use more extreme measures like, punishment of the Oar.

She-Quadrupled

Sometimes known as "She-Sleen", the Discipline of the She-Quadruped is more then just a mere position to a command, it is rather, a complete change of habits.  The slave is to fully assume and imitate the mannerisms of an animal. In this position, the slave cannot stand, speak, use their hands, unless told otherwise.  It is often used as punishment but also as a tool to imprint in the mind of slaves that they are not free.  This treatment is humbling, there is a clear line between the slave , an animal, and the free who are human.  She is shown that she is little more then a pet whom is completely dependent and at the mercy of her owner and his commands.

Also known as the Collaring position.  The position of female submission, assumed when a slave offers herself to a free person, or free woman to a free man.  Openly begging for one's collar and publicly declaring her ownership by another.

Sula, gorean for "back".  A prone position often used by gorean Master's when they wish to take sexual pleasure of the slave girl.

Same position as Sula, just with a twist of arching the back and lifting the hips off the floor.  Not a very comfortable position, but more accessible for Masters and inspection, as well as a pleasing view.

Perform

A command to display oneself in as many ways as one has been taught, and for as long as those whom the slave is trying to interest choose. The command to interest them is also used in this context.
"Have her stand, and turn," said a man.
I heard the snapping of fingers.
Quickly I rose to my feet, and turned, before them.
"Interesting," said a man.
"Clasp your hands behind the back of your head," said a fellow from the house.
I complied.
"Arch your back," said another.
My left foot was now slightly advanced. I was bent backwards, my back arched. My hands were clasped behind the back of my head.
"Yes," said another. "Interesting."
"Belly," said the fellow who had first spoken to me.
Instantly I returned to my belly, as I had been before, my head turned to the left, my arms back, down at my sides, my hands turned so that my palms, their softness, faced up, exposed.

I moved before the men, first before one and then before another, approaching, withdrawing, sometimes as if unwilling, or shy, sometimes almost as if daring to be insolent or rebellious, but not quite, or not really, of course, for if such things are misunderstood one may quickly feel the lash. And there are the movements of petition, of pleading, of begging. There are movements of these, and of many other sorts. Some of these movements I had been taught. Others, in effect, were known to me from long ago. I had, in secrecy, practiced them, before mirrors, when alone. I had found them somehow in the piteous recesses of my needs, had drawn them forth as though from an ancient knowledge. I had wondered how it was sometimes that I could have known such things. Had I moved thusly long ago, in a former life, before a prince of some royal house on the Nile, before some caliph in his cool, white palace abutting the slow waters of the Tigris, in the house of some oligarch overlooking the Tiber? Or were these things locked in the very cells of my body, in the mysteries of genes and chromosomes, a part of my nature, selected for, over thousands of generations? Perhaps, thusly, such as I had, at times, writhed naked and piteous at the feet of some primitive hunter, before his fire, that he would not use the heavy stone in his hand, that I might be permitted to live. How I would have been prepared to accept, and relish, eagerly, gratefully, the harsh terms which he might decree! And here, too, it seemed, in this place, new revelations had come to me of my nature. Here, away from my own world, with its confusions, its lies, its contradictions, its asceticism, its hatred, its envy, its resentment, its pervasive negativities, it seemed as though for the first time I could be what I truly was, without pretending to be something else. Here for the first time I felt I could be me, not some other. Had I so moved in Thebes or Memphis, or Damascus, or Baghdad, or Athens or Rome? I did not know. Oh, there are many such movements, and they must flow into one another well.

I then transposed into floor movements, as these are often the climactic episodes of such a performance.
I made certain, of course, that I concluded my performance before he who was first among the strangers. It would not do at all to have finished it elsewhere. Sometimes an item such as I, struck with love, or careless, may move cumulatively, so to speak, and most meaningfully, before one who is not first in such a group. Such an error, however, despite its understandability, the desire to display oneself before, to call oneself to the attention of, and to attract him in whose power one wishes to be, can be very dangerous. Such things can lead among the men to rivalries, to fallings out, even to duels and bloodshed. And for one such as I they might lead at best to the thonging of the wrists and the waiting at the post, for the lash.
I heard exclamations from the men, the sudden intakes of breath, tiny sounds of surprise, murmurs of approval. These things coursed through the group, some even from those in the house. Such as I, you see, do have some power, but the ultimate power, of course, is not ours.
Then I lay on my back, the performance concluded. My left knee was up, and drawn further back than my right knee, which was also raised. My hands were down beside me, at my sides. The palms were up, as is proper. The vulnerability of the palms is a part of the symbolisms involved. My head was turned to the right, and I looked toward he who was first among the strangers. Then having done this, I turned my head back, and looked up. I could see the pitting of ceiling above me. My hair was about. My body was covered with a sheen of sweat. I was breathing heavily.

Strip

Self explanatory, yet as with most of what slave girls are taught, it can be brought to an art and performed in many ways. The command is also issued by a gesture.
She trembled. "Reach now," I said, "to the cord at the left side of your waist." "I do not even know how to strip myself before a man," she said, in misery. "There are a thousand ways in which it may be done," I said. She touched the cord. Her fingers were on it. Then she looked up at me. "How might a slave do this?" she asked. "In one of a thousand ways,"
I smiled She moaned. "A typical way might be as follows," I said. "The girl might stand or kneel before the master. She might say, "Your property begs to be permitted to reveal herself to you." Two gestures then did he make, in quick succession, the first indicating the left shoulder where, had I been tunicked in that fashion, there would have been a disrobing loop, and the second indicating, fingers spread, palm down, the floor. Lap

There are two positions for this command, the first when the slave is to lay her body across the Masters lap.  He will then procede to spank her.
Second, the slave will merely warm the Masters lap cuddling close.

Relax

The slave will usually relax resting on her heels, she may speak and continue what she was doing, but she might no longer be needed at that moment and can relax pleasingly.

Table

The slave goes to elbows and knees, another alternative is hands and knees locking elbows.  Knees are spread firmly to the floor, back is straight, smooth, and level across.  The head is held level with the back and the slave is basically froze in that position, used as a table or footrest, or anything else one wishes.
